The famous Zaporizhia band "BarabanZA" released a music video with the German singer Petra Nachtmanova. More precisely, the Ukrainian-German tandem - "BarabanZA" and singer Petra Nakhtmanova will perform the Ukrainian folk dance song "Podolyanochka". The video was shot specifically for the international project called TRACKS , which is based on the idea of trains as a space for joint work and a meeting place.
"BarabanZA" filmed its part at the "Zaporizhia-2" railway station, which was shelled by the enemy at the beginning of the full-scale war. (At that time, the explosion of a Russian rocket damaged the old station building, where Lesya Ukrainka stopped and read her poems aloud 100 years ago). And Petra Nakhtmanova filmed her part at one of the railway stations in her city (in Berlin), where trains with forced refugees arrive.
During the full-scale war, railway stations became the starting point for the forced journey of millions of Ukrainian families into an unknown future. And railway tracks, like many kilometers of steel threads, imaginatively connect our villages, cities, Ukraine and Europe.
- On March 16, at 6 o'clock in the morning, the first terribly powerful explosion from the arrival of a Russian cruise missile sounded over the railway station "Zaporizhia-2", which damaged not only the platform and tracks, but also the windows and doors of all residential buildings, including ours the shelter in which we as a whole family hid at night during an air raid, - recalls the head of "BarabanZA", musician Denys Vasiliev. - But this did not frighten us, but only strengthened our thoughts that we should stay in the city and help the community and the Armed Forces to protect our homeland and Ukraine. We joined the volunteer movement and stood up to protect the cultural heritage of the city, saved monuments and museums, supported people in bomb shelters and soldiers in military hospitals with music, organized and held concerts of Ukrainian musicians for volunteers, military and forcibly displaced people. We held the "Cultural Defense" of the city.
At the end of spring, we received an invitation from our Kharkiv colleague Serhii Zhukovsky to join the international project "TRACKS" and agreed. We immediately felt that we must share our story and play it for the world. Our colleague from the film "Saz is the key of trust", modern itinerant performer Petra Nakhtmanova, was chosen as a tandem. Who can convey mood and emotions through a song that will be understood by everyone without subtitles and translation.
The video was dedicated to the people who, due to unprincipled Russian military aggression in the form of war, were forced to leave their homes and families, with the hope of returning home after victory.
